<2011 Fall>
Matereality:Material+Reality
26 Sep, 2011 ~ 21 Oct, 2011
The Park, Eul Bok embroidery museum presents the special feature exhibition ‘Matereality’ for the fall 2011. The term ‘matereality’ is a combined word deriving from ‘material' and'reality'. The aesthetics embedded in materials is experimented to seek for all the expressive possibilities.
This exhibition is an attempt to go a step further from last year’s contemporary fiber exhibition titled 'Pojagi 11,278 Miles: Seoul-San Francisco, San Francisco-Seoul'. On this occasion, a diverse range of contemporary art is presented including fiber, metal and print works. The exhibition features 10 artists who graduated from Indiana University in Bloomington, USA between 1970 until 2000.
The artworks of the first generation metal artists Kim, Hong Ja and Kim, Seung Hee are shown along with pieces by Son, Kye Yeon, Oh, Byung Wook and Park, Myung Jai. Opposite such a cold and hard material, there are the detailed and organic fiber and textile artworks by Oh, Soon Hee, Yoon, Soon Ran, Shin, Hye and Park, Jung Moon. There are also prints and book art by Kim, Ha Ran. The artist presents her distinctive art world working both in two and three dimensions.
This development endeavored by the Park, Eul Bok embroidery museum includes many different styles and transitions in Korean contemporary art. We hope that it will provide the chance to see artworks incorporating different materials collected together in one space. |
